Welcome to High Peak & NE Cheshire Branch

The High Peak & NE Cheshire Branch of CAMRA covers a rather incongruous area stretching from Mossley northeast of Aston-u-Lyne to Earl Sterndale southeast of Buxton and takes in a fair chunk of the eastern side of Greater Manchester, the north-western part of Derbyshire and a sliver of the new Cheshire East area.

The diversity of the area is one of its attractions from historic working towns to the glorious hills and vales of the High Peak area, but travelling around the branch on public transport is often a challenge. The branch therefore chooses to hold its monthly meetings in numerous pubs across the length and breadth of the branch area from Buxton to Stalybridge in an effort to provide a reasonable opportunity for CAMRA members to attend a meeting if they wish. Not all CAMRA members want to be involved in branch activities and the national campaign rightly welcomes the support of all its members whether branch activists or not. Nevertheless the High Peak & NE Cheshire branch welcomes anyone who wishes to drop into a monthly meeting whether it be once in a while or every month, and a warm welcome will be always assured. However, with approximately 600 CAMRA member in the branch area please don’t all turn up at the same meeting – we haven’t any pub rooms that large.

The branch always has numerous social activities on the go including weekends away in Britain and annual trips abroad. Regular events take place across the branch area throughout the year and I invite you to keep an eye on the branch diary through this website or in What’s Brewing (listed under Greater Manchester).

Please do contact the branch if you have ant interesting news on pubs or brewing in any parts of the branch area where you live, work or visit.

Cheers,

Geoff Williamson – Branch Chairman
